Stephen's parents had booked a place in the mountains for a week so me, Stephen and Stephen's brother Ryan tagged along for a weekend. It was nice to spend time together as a family and explore Banff and the surrounding areas.
I had seen many pictures on Instagram of this famous Moraine Lake but never seen the lake in real life though we had been to Banff several times before. They say it is one of the most photographed spots in all of Canada and now I know why.
It blew my mind. (Literally)
The park had organized overflow parking and a shuttle for people wanting to see the lake since parking was told to be impossible. We ended up being stubborn and drove there with our car and were lucky to find parking (though after coming back to the car we realized it wasn't even a parking spot. Oh well :D)
I didn't care about the other millions of tourists since I was just like one of them: having my big camera hanging around my neck and taking pictures with my phone as well.
After looking at the lake from the famous viewpoint on top of the rockpile we took a trail down to the canoe docks and walked all the way down a trail that went beside the lake. It was so peaceful and beautiful.
The sun was up as we arrived to Moraine Lake but went down pretty fast. After hiking to the end of the trail we were getting cold and hungry so we decided to head back to the car and stopped by a gas station on our way back to the condo to buy some hot chocolate!
I spent one Summer weekend at Stephen's cousins' cabin at Pigeon Lake. It was so nice to have a girls' weekend at the cabin! Now that the temperature is starting to drop dramatically it was nice to go through these pics and remember the warm Summer days we had! Until next year...
